MORRISSEY CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES "AROUND THE WORLD" FUNDRAISER SCHEDULED FOR FEB. 26
ROCKFORD, IL (February 16, 2009) - The Citizens for Morrissey campaign invites the public to the annual "Around the World" event, which celebrates Rockford's cultural and ethnic diversity, from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at Cliffbreakers, 700 W. Riverside Blvd.
"It's an opportunity for all of us as Rockfordians to share and enjoy the finest of our city's diverse local talent and culture," said Mayor Larry Morrissey, who is running for re-election as an independent. "The things that make us different can really unite our community. We need to take pride in our diversity in order to move forward. That's something that my administration has always supported and continues to celebrate."
"Around the World 2009" features food from more than a dozen local restaurants, including DiTullio's, Garrett's, Brio, Tortacos Soto, Kuma's Asian Bistro, Irish Rose, Thai Cuisine, Cliffbreakers, River District Catering, Capri, Deli Italia, University Club, Deli'licious Café Catering and Cookies By Design.
In addition to sampling unique culinary creations, attendees can enter a 50/50 raffle and bid on silent and live auction items, including Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox tickets, Florida condo retreats and a diamond.
Individual tickets are $40. Special sponsorship packages include a table for 10 and table signage for $500 and two tables of 10, table signage and recognition at the event for $1,000. Sponsors should RSVP by Thursday, Feb. 19.
