Mayor Morrissey to Deliver His Business Luncheon Address
City of Rockford leader to speak on some new, important educational initiatives

Mayor’s Business Luncheon. More than 500 are expected to turn out for the annual event, designed to
bring the public and private sector together to discuss issues important to the business community.
There is a critical connection between education and the overall health of our community. Learn more
about Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey’s overall vision for the education of our youth as well as for
lifelong learning opportunities available to every member of the Rockford region.
Mayor Morrissey will report on:
his goal to develop the City University of Rockford;
his administration’s current statistics and future plans on the city’s crucial truancy initiative;
the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, which includes the nFACTOR movement and the newly opened nCENTER;
higher education opportunities available to members of our community, and
charter schools, and public school governance.
Following his presentation, Mayor Morrissey will take questions from the audience.
Larry Morrissey was elected Mayor of Rockford on April 5, 2005. His agenda includes a strong emphasis
on job creation through improving Rockford’s education system, improving public safety, and making
core investments in Rockford’s infrastructure; what he refers to as the four R’s: roads, rail, fiber
optic ring and riverfront development.
