We are just under
three weeks from election day. We have been busy getting our message out through
numerous forums, debates, neighborhood coffees and events, and television and radio.
Since the last newsletter, we have released two position papers:
Urban Planning, Transportation, Energy & the Environment
; and
Job Creation, Technology, Tourism, & Economic Development
.
Please review these papers and let us know your thoughts. We always appreciate
input from our community.
This week we unveil also our position paper
on Education, Life-Long Learning, & Solving the Truancy Crisis
. The Mayor’s Office must play a critical role in coordinating and
improving this community’s educational resources and approach to life-long learning.
Currently, however, the City does not have any personnel within the
Mayor’s office to create and direct a comprehensive approach to the City's
education efforts. That must change. This City needs accountability for
coordinating and directing its educational resources. The residential and
business marketplace needs to know that this City has taken responsibility and
action for improving education in our community. I will hire a Director of
Education & Life-Long Learning to work on this effort. As we improve our
schools, we will see increased demand for living and working in Rockford.
The election is just a few weeks
away. Things are going very well, especially following the WTVO debate last week,
which the WTVO survey following the debate showed us with a decisive victory over
our opponent. People are seeing that there are important differences between what
the current administration has said it will do and what a Morrissey Administration
will actually do!
Thank you for all you have done to help get
us here! We still need your financial support and volunteer support to lead us to
Victory on April 5. Any additional support you can provide down the stretch is
greatly appreciated.
All my best to you and your families,
